Two prominent people – one a judge, the other a high-ranking government official, have arranged a secret rendez-vous. One must make a shocking confession to the other before the rest of the world finds out.
FRANK: You ever done anything like that? Anything you’re ashamed of?
DOMINIQUE: Why are we talking about this?
FRANK: Just answer me. Por favor.
DOMINIQUE: Something I’m ashamed of?
FRANK: Something that – if you had your life to live over again – something you’d strike from your record?
A playwright, director and librettist, Kico has had his work produced at various theatres, including The Arts Club, Richmond Gateway Theatre, Calgary’s Lunchbox Theatre, Calgary Opera Association, Lancaster Opera, The Cleveland Institute of Music, The Butterfly Club in Australia and the United Solo Festival in New York. Among his professionally produced plays are WONDERVILLE, SLEEPWALKER, INSPECTOR
SLY’s SECOND-TO-LAST CASE, PHONING IT IN (for CBC Radio), INQUISITION, VOODOO and A SCORE TO SETTLE. Kico has been the recipient of a Opera Canada Creation Award. His English version of THE MAGIC FLUTE was broadcast on CBC’s SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE OPERA and produced by various opera companies in Canada and the USA. He has written many poems and texts in English and Spanish that have been set to music. His latest play, FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS was written for, and produced by, The Renert School is Calgary last season. He also recently translated Carlo Goldoni’s 18 Cent. masterpiece LA LOCANDIERA (The Innkeeper). His two-hander, THE FOREPLAY, was given its New Zealand premiere last month.TIMEPIECE, which was read for Off the Page last year, will be produced here at the Heritage Playhouse by Driftwood Players from Oct. 13 – 23. Kico is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada and the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers of Canada.
