Off The Page

January 14 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Off the Page presents a play reading of How to Survive an Apocalypse.
by Vancouver Playwright, Jordan Hall.

Featuring: Sophia Ballantyne, Lisa Furfaro, Justin Huston, & Steve Schwabl.

Admission $10 minimum donation at the door.

How to Survive an Apocalypse, is a funny and frank exploration of a young couple who become end-of-the-world “preppers” when faced with financial hardship. Desperately unprepared for any actual wilderness living, they join another couple in the woods to boost their survival skills. But foraging for food does not come easy to them. As the character Jen says, “the apocalypse will not be gluten free.” As the play progresses, it is clear the concept of “apocalypse” takes on a personal as well as social context.

Jordan Hall is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter, best known for her plays Kayak, How to Survive an Apocalypse, and the cult-hit web series Carmilla (over 70 million views on YouTube.) Her work focuses on the exploration of genre, socio-political inequality, ecological crisis, and the creation of deeply-compelling female protagonists — and has been dubbed “fresh and funny” by The Daily Mail, “sharp and witty” by Broadway World, and “a zesty treat” by The Telegraph. Her television credits include story editor and writer on Global’s Family Law, and the supernatural drama Chaos Theory, on option with Seven24.

Please note: Due to an increase in production costs, we are reluctantly asking for a suggested donation of $10 minimum. We are working hard to keep Off the Page available for all those wanting to see live theatre play readings.
This is a gentle reminder that we are a small non-profit group, and we thank you for all your support.
