House and Home is a biting, comedic take on Vancouver’s current real estate crisis where property values are high, rental vacancy rates are low, and owning your own home is unaffordable for the average home buyer. Hilary, a waitress/poet turned social worker and Henry, a Butoh dancer turned lawyer, didn’t know how lucky they were when they managed to escape bad roommates and buy a house before the real estate market skyrocketed. Finding themselves house rich and cash poor, they abandon their values and plunge into the world of short-term rentals. How far will they go to keep their house?

Originally from Alberta, Jenn Griffin is grateful to live, work and play on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples for many years. As a playwright, Jenn was awarded the Sydney Risk award in 1999 for bestemerging playwright with her first play “Drinking with Persephone”. She is a former Associate at Playwrights Theatre Centre where she created “The Long Call.” In 2017, Jenn received an Arts Club Silver Commission for a new comedy entitled “House and Home.”  “House and Home,” premiered at The Firehall Arts Centre in January 2020. Jenn has been honoured with several Jessie Richardson Theatre awards and nominations for writing and performing. She has also worked regularly in film and television and was nominated for a Leo award as “Maeve,” in Marshall Axani’s feature, “The Cannon.”
