Off the Page presents a staged reading of Juliet: A Revenge Comedy by Pippa Mackie and Ryan Gladstone.

Synopsis: Her name is Juliet, and she’s not dying for you anymore. In this imaginative and comedic spin on Romeo & Juliet, the titular heroine refuses to die for someone she just met two days ago. “Wherefore art thou Romeo?” Who cares! Juliet takes matters into her own hands and recruits a team of Shakespeare’s most famous tragic heroines.
Juliet: A Revenge Comedy, co-written by Pippa Mackie and Ryan Gladstone, has been touring North America since 2019, including a sold-out run and holdover at The Cultch in 2024. This creative play was nominated for 5 Jessie Richardson Awards including Best Production and earned several Pick of the Fringe awards.
Pippa Mackieis an award-winning playwright, actress, and producer based in Vancouver, B.C. Most notable credits include Hurricane Mona, co-produced by Touchstone Theatre and Ruby Slippers Theatre, which received its World Premiere at the Cultch in 2023. Hurricane Mona was also awarded the first David King Prize for Comedy.
Ryan Gladstoneis an actor, producer, director, playwright and improvisor based in Vancouver. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Monster Theatre where he has co-created 25 original plays. Ryan has taught at UBC, Capilano University, Stratford Festival and is currently an instructor at the Vancouver Film School.
